New Mexico Space Port
The State of New Mexico is getting ready to put in a Space Port with an Industrial park to help usher in the new age of commercial space endeavors. Meanwhile the FAA has proposed new legislation for SpaceFlight Rules, which is being discussed. Burt Rutan"s SpaceShip One recently won the X-Prize for getting into space and so far the new venture to take tourists into space already has over 38,000 people signed up to go with deposits. The cost to be taken into space is only about $200,000 and many expect the waiting list to reach 50,000 by the end of the year? The Space Port will be Northeast of Las Cruses, NM and will be on a 27-mile plot of land. It will be completed in 2009 and will house spaces ships costing about 150 million dollars. The State of New Mexico is also very excited about the project and will spend about 100 million to assist with local infrastructures to support the new space base. Billionaire Richard Branson will spend about 225 million dollars to build the spaceport.
The future of commercial space flight in nearly upon us and that means an entirely new industry, with potentially billions of dollars flowing thru it in the next decade. Not bad for the forward progression of mankind, not bad at all. Think on this in 2008. Article key : New Mexico Space Port, richard branson, spaceship one, burt rutan, Space, 2009, 2010
